About Us

Ivan – our Founding Inspiration & CDO (Chief Dog Officer)

What happens when you have a 110-lb German Shepherd with skin issues that requires bathing every other day? You build the perfect location to make sure that him and others like him have access to a safe, comfortable and caring bathing/grooming experience. Fur Babies was born out of love.  Love for Ivan.  Love for animals. Love for grooming. We hope that when you are here, you feel that. We already know that your fur baby does.

Since the beginning of Fur Babies in 2016, we have built a fantastic base of customers and their dogs. We have celebrated new puppies and rescues, mourned Rainbow Bridge crossings and groomed almost every breed of dog. Our customers become family and we have been lucky that they bring with them other family and friends and recommend us to others on social media.  Through it all, we always strive to do better and encourage and grow our staff through continuing education, appreciation days, time for family and support. Our mission is simple – it’s all about the Fur Babies. We will always have a clean and safe environment for you and the most important furry members of your family. There are no gimmicks here. Just true professionalism and a true love for every Fur Baby that comes through our door!

In May 2023, we moved into our new, larger facility at 45 Old Turnpike Road in Southington and we absolutely love it! This expanded space allowed us to increase the number of self-wash tubs, gives our groomers more room to work, provides a holding space for your fur babies and expands the waiting area for our customer’s comfort.

Keeping It At Home and Giving Back!

As a proud Air Force Mom, I think we should buy at home first. We make sure that our supplies including our shampoos, conditioners and even our tubs are made here in the USA!

We are a A.K.C SAFE Handling Salon.
What does this mean? It means that we have completed the American Kennel Club SAFE (Safety, Assurance, Fundamentals, Education) Salon Course, passed the comprehensive exam, make a commitment and took an oath to pursue further education as often as possible and to hold your pet’s safety in our highest regard. The coursework covers:
-Best practices focusing on pet care, health and safety
-Groomer and salon safety protocols and how to handle special cases
-Informed about pet and zoonotic diseases, accident avoidance and sanitation
-Understanding the best techniques to ensure pet safety while in groomer/salon care

Your pet is our priority.
